Matthew Mitchell took his No. 6 UK Hoops (17-2, 6-0 SEC) team into Athens Thursday night and defeated the No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs (15-4, 4-2 SEC) 69-64. This is their 3rd straight win over a ranked opponent and 5th on the year.

The first half would prove to be sloppy for Mitchell's Cats as they turned the ball over ten times to Georgia's four. The shorthanded Georgia team would take a five point lead in to the locker room at halftime. (Georgia only dressed eight players)

Five minutes in to the second half Georgia's lead would grow to ten at 56-46. The lack of depth would begin to show for the Bulldogs. The Cats would use a 9-0 run to take a 58-52 lead. Big buckets down the stretch by Bria Goss would allow the Cats to pull out the 69-64 victory.

Mitchell's Cats are in sole possession of 1st place in the SEC. They were led in scoring by Bria Goss with 22 pts. Samarie Walker (transfer from U. Conn) would have her best game in a Kentucky uniform with 18 pts and 9 rebs. The Cats will play host to Florida Sunday at 2:00 pm at Memorial Coliseum. There looks to be about 200 tickets left for Sunday's game.
