March is here and the madness has already begun. The last week of the SEC regular season came with program changing wins and losses among the SEC’s best. For teams like Kentucky and Tennessee the season ended with huge wins to cap off a great SEC regular season. Other teams like Florida, Vanderbilt, and Alabama were not as fortunate and ended the year with big losses. It all just leads us to the SEC Tournament in the Big Easy. Mardi Gras was just a couple of weeks ago, but the madness of March has just started in New Orleans as the SEC Tournament tips off on Thursday March 8th.

Kentucky comes in to the Big Easy as the favorite to win the tournament after going undefeated in the regular season, but Tennessee comes in as the most dangerous team winning 4 straight and 8 of their last 9. A long shot to win the tournament might come from the Mississippi State Bulldogs who underachieved through the middle of their schedule. The final SEC Standings look like the following:

  1. Kentucky
  2. Tennessee
  3. Vanderbilt
  4. Florida
  5. Alabama
  6. Mississippi State
  7. Ole Miss
  8. LSU
  9. Arkansas
  10. Auburn
  11. Georgia
  12. South Carolina

Now that you know the bracket lets dive into the games.

Game 1: #8 LSU vs. #9 Arkansas- This will be the third edition of this game with season series being split by the two ball clubs. This game will be a tossup, but take the Hogs and their rested legs. Winner- Arkansas

Game 2: #5 Alabama vs. #12 South Carolina- This will be the second edition of this game with South Carolina upsetting the Tide in the first meeting. No chance the Gamecocks can make lighting strike twice, take the Tide. Winner- Alabama

Game 3: #7 Ole Miss vs. #10 Auburn- This will be the third edition of this game with the season series being split by the two ball clubs. This game is going to be fun to watch, but we give the edge to the Rebels with their NCAA tourney hopes on the line. Winner- Ole Miss

Game 4: #6 Mississippi State vs. #11 Georgia- This will be the second edition of this game with Georgia winning the first matchup. I do not think the Dawgs can do it again take State in this one. Winner- Mississippi State

Game 5: #9 Arkansas vs. #1 Kentucky- Let’s make this simple there is no chance that the Hogs beat the Cats in this one. Winner- Kentucky

Game 6: #5 Alabama vs. #4 Florida- This will be the second edition of this game and Florida took the first meeting in Tuscaloosa. This will be a tough game for both teams, and the Gators need to end their losing streak. I do not think their losing skid will end here take the Tide. Winner- Alabama

Game 7: #7 Ole Miss vs. #2 Tennessee- This will be the second edition of this game with Tennessee wining the first game. This game is a battle for the bubble, and on a neutral court you always take defense. Tennessee’s defense wins this one. Winner- Tennessee

Game 8: #6 Mississippi State vs. #3 Vanderbilt- This will be the second edition of this game with Vanderbilt winning the first in overtime. You could flip a coin to pick a winner in this game, and our coin says Mississippi State. Winner- Mississippi State

Game 9: #1 Kentucky vs. #5 Alabama- Kentucky might get a better game from Alabama, but the Tide does not have the fire power to beat the Cats. Winner- Kentucky

Game 10: #2 Tennessee vs. #6 Mississippi State- This game is a rematch of a game that State won by 4 at home. The rematch will be on a neutral floor and State’s tired legs will be the difference. Tennessee wins and stays alive in the NCAA tourney picture. Winner- Tennessee

Championship Game: #1 Kentucky vs. #2 Tennessee- You are thinking to yourself right now, that there is no chance #1 plays #2 in the final. You might be right, but on this day it is Kentucky vs. Tennessee for the third time this year. Kentucky won a close game in Knoxville and then blew out the Vols at home. On a neutral floor, I think you can split the difference and Kentucky beats Tennessee by single digits. SEC Tournament Champions- Kentucky
