Don’t adjust your monitors fans, you read correct, college baseball is back, and the Southeastern Conference is stacked. With the release of the preseason coaches poll, today is as good a time as any to look forward to baseball. The SEC coaches voted for the teams they thought would have the most success in the league this season with Florida winning the East and Arkansas winning the West. The SEC has had at-least one team in the World Series Championship series in 4 consecutive seasons, winning 3 straight. South Carolina is the reigning two-time defending champions having beaten UCLA in 2010 and Florida in2011. Those Florida Gators are preseason #1 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll receiving 17 of 31 votes, and South Carolina is #2. Also in the top 25 are Arkansas, 8, Vandy, 12, LSU, 14, and Georgia at 25.

The college season starts this Friday, Feb. 17th with conference play starting Friday, March 16th. In 2012 the SEC is expanding the conference tournament to 10 teams in anticipation of the league expanding to 14 schools. This expansion will put more SEC schools into the NCAA tournament as several teams have missed out due to missing the tournament. The SEC tournament will be held May 22-27 in Hoover, Alabama. With cold weather gripping the South this past weekend baseballs return means only one thing, summer is coming!
