Day 12 of the 12 days of Christmas!
On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me; 12 NCAA Tourney Appearances for Billy the Kid 11 Wins for the Cocks, 10 Cowbells Ringing, 9 National Championships for Pat Summitt, 8 bowl wins, 7 Happy Coaches, 6 in a Row, 5 NCAA Tournament Bids, 4 National Championships for LSU, 3 Bowl wins for Vandy, 2 New Teams, and One Rematch
On this the twelfth day of Christmas Santa wants to be a part of Gator Nation, and join the bandwagon at the University of Florida. He did not have to go out on a limb to give his twelfth and final gift of the season. That gift is pretty much a guarantee with the starting five the gators are currently putting on the floor, but Santa wants to give it anyway. So on the twelfth day of Christmas Santa is going to give Billy Donovan and his Florida Gators their Twelfth NCAA Tournament appearance.
Billy has been at the University of Florida since 1996, and for some reason “Billy the Kid” does not seem to look much older than when he took over the program. Donovan has led the Gators to eleven NCAA Tournaments since he has arrived on the scene in Gainesville, FL. The 2011-2012 edition will make it number twelve. Since taking over he has won two National Championships, three NCAA Final Fours, three SEC tournament championships, and Four SEC regular season championships. Not a bad resume for a guy working at what is thought to be a football school.
Donovan has made his mark in Gator Nation, and might have his most talented team yet. I would expect big things from this year’s Gator Basketball Team, and do not be surprised if they do not add to the accolades that he has already accomplished at the University. Maybe next Christmas Santa will still be on the bandwagon and we will be talking about gifting Billy with a bronze statue of himself in front of the O’ Dome. One thing is for certain, next Christmas Coach Donovan will still look as young as he did in 1996.
