The Vanderbilt game was described as a do or die game for Ole Miss heading into last nights matchup. A home game for the Rebels, with their backs against the wall, you would expect a tight physical game. Instead you saw a Vanderbilt team that is just cruising in a much higher speed than most other SEC teams at the moment.
Vandy, coming off a close loss to Kentucky may have given Vanderbilt a lot of confidence that they can hang with the best of the best. They certainly served as a measurement of where Ole Miss is as a team.
Instead of playing their way back into tournament consideration, the Rebs are playing for the NIT and are apparently not happy about it, as reports of post game brawls between teammates began to trickle out almost immediately after the game ended.
