Sophomore Jackie Traina had another stellar weekend on the mound as the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide softball team swept the Kentucky Wildcats. The sweep improved the Tide's overall record to 21-0, while giving them a 3-0 record to start conference play.
The Tide defeated the Cats in a close one Friday night, finally hitting two solo home runs in the 9th to give the Tide the 3-1 victory. Traina got the win, pitching all 9 innings. The Tide bats came alive on Saturday and Sunday, however, as the Tide won 9-1 and 12-2 to close out the weekend. Not only did Traina get the win on Sunday also, improving her season record to a perfect 12-0, but she also went 2 for 2 at the plate with 2 solo home runs. The home runs are her first 2 of the season.
Up next for the Tide is a trip to the Pacific Northwest, where the Tide will spend their Spring Break facing Oregon on Tuesday and Portland State on Wednesday.
