Kentucky Coach John Calipari has been saying that his team needed a battle.  A team to come out and just go "nutty" on them, and he got that Saturday night in Nashville. Vanderbilt stormed back from a 14 point deficit to take a brief 4 point lead before Kentucky locked down on defense and held them scoreless over the final 4:10 to win 69-63.

The Cats ignored a hostile Memorial Gym to cruise to a 13 point halftime lead. Terrence Jones lead the way in the first half with 14 points. The Vandy offense seemed to struggle with Kentucky's defense the entire half before catching fire early in the 2nd half. With 4:00 remaining the Cat's defense went to work. "We just didn't want to give them the easy three," said Anthony Davis. Davis was the difference in the 2nd half challenging every shot and finishing with 15 pts, 8 rbs, and 7 blks.

Marquis Teague turned out another near flawless performance with 13 pts. and 8 ast. "I just told Marquis if he gets confused to pick and roll,"  said Calipari. Darius Miller played nearly the entire 2nd half with four fouls but came up huge late in the game. Calipari said, "That three that Darius hit turned the game around".  Doron Lamb was his usual solid self leading the way with 16 pts. Kentucky (25-1, 11-0) will get the week off and play host to Ole Miss next Saturday at 4:00 pm.

*Digger Phelps came on the mic and scolded the UK fans in attendance and told them to be quite, this was Vandy's day, and not ruin "GameDay". Kyle Tucker of the Courier Journal stated that he had spoken with a Vandy official and the attendance for GameDay was around 2,500, and a third to half were UK fans.

*Cal announced last night that with the off week he will hold an open scrimmage for students, Wednesday at Memorial, and  will stream it live for the fans. Who else does that mid-season?
