The #9 UK Hoops Team of Kentucky and the #6 Lady Vols of Tennessee traded blows for much of 40 minutes until UK guard A'dia Mathies hit a layup with 4.2 seconds remaining to give UK the 61-60 win. Mathies finished with a game high 34 points and the win ended the Lady Vols 36 game SEC win streak.

In front of a sold out crowd at Memorial Coliseum the Cats and the Vols played a very fast, yet sloppy first half. Neither team could get anything going on the offensive end. The Cats went into the locker room with a 25-21 lead.

The 2nd half would be a story of runs. UK Hoops would use a 13-3 run to build a 12 point lead with about 7:00 to go. An A'dia Mathies 4 point play could have likely been the dagger, but the Lady Vols would fight back. A couple of Glory Johnson free throws would put Tennessee ahead at the 3:00 mark. After an offensive foul called on the Vols, A'dia Mathies made the biggest shot of her career giving the Cats the 1 point win.

Kentucky (14-2, 4-0 SEC) will travel to Columbia, SC to take on the Gamecocks this Sunday at 3:00.

Side Note: Pat Summitt and Mickie DeMoss where both welcomed with a standing ovation.
