Cats Roll Hogs, Davis Breaks Block Record
Anthony Davis is a man among boys. Davis set the Kentucky single season blocks record surpassing Mel Turpin and Andre Riddick (83) in route to another near triple-double. The miraculous part of this is he did it in only 19 games.
Davis has dominated all season but has at times had his toughness questioned. "From T.V you can see he's really long." said Arkansas guard Mardracus Wade. "You'd think he's not that physical, but he is." Davis was around the ball all night long finishing with 27 pts, 14 rebs, and 7 blks.
Kentucky (18-1, 4-0 SEC) jumped out to a quick 13-2 lead to start the game, led by as many as 20, and took a 37-21 lead into halftime. The second half would be much of the same as Arkansas (13-5, 2-2 SEC) would never get going. Kentucky would lead by as many as 28 points in the second half en route to a 86-63 win.
Kentucky got a big performance out of Marquis Teague and Terrence Jones as well. Teague, in maybe his most complete game of the year, had 7 pts, 5 rebs, 9 ast, and only 2 TO's. Jones, who has been suffering from a left pinky injury, was back to his usual aggressive self with 13 pts, 9 rebs, and 5 blks.
Next up for Kentucky will be Alabama this Saturday at 12:00 pm at Rupp Arena in Lexinton, KY.
